I think one word sums up this week and its 'Expanding'! My tummy seems to have hit overdrive and I'm wondering how on earth its going to be able to keep stretching until the end of July! People are still saying I'm very "neat" - which is lovely to hear but I do think they are just being nice! I'm liberally applying my Simply Pregnant Body Lotion as it really helps with the itching! (which I think is caused by the rapidly expanding skin).
The other things that are continuing to expand are my feet - as per last week - its the left foot that's the culprit. I'm drinking lots of water to try and compensate which has the net result of frequent bathroom trips (generally in the middle of the night). Epsom Salts baths are my solution to this and when it gets really bad I'm going to top up with a Magnesium supplement which is supposed to help with swelling. I'm making a special blend for me with added Juniper and Grapefruit essential oils - it smells really nice!
Sleep deprivation I was warned about this happening in the 3rd trimester - and even though I'm just shy of that - its starting to happen to me. I get to sleep OK - always trying to sleep on my left side with a pillow between my legs. However after the 2nd bathroom trip at about 3am - that's it - I cannot get back to sleep again. I develop really bad hip pain - so then I toss and turn trying to get comfortable and then the heartburn kicks in so I have to try and sleep sitting up!
Heartburn -oh how I hate you! Its been so bad its making me sick! The Simply Pregnant blend helps but only so far. Alot of the essential oils that I would choose to use, are not safe in pregnancy so I'm a bit scuppered. The GP has prescribed some Ranitidine which I've started taking. Apparently it takes a few days to kick in so I'm still topping up with Gaviscon. Lets hope it helps me get some sleep!
So my midwife appointment went without fuss. Twin 1 is head down and Twin 2 is breech. Twin 2 is always the more active one so it will be interesting to see if this continues after birth!
So next milestone is the 28 week appointment with the consultant and another ultrasound. I haven't had one for a month so it will be great to see them again for peace of mind and to find out whether we are going to be given a date for elective Csection. eeek!
Have your say. Please be nice and stay on topic
