Third Trimester time
Wow - I'm entering the 3rd trimester! We had our scan and consultant appointment yesterday and all went well. Twin one very difficult to measure as they were head down and face towards my spine. Twin 2 was posing! Face up and half way between transverse and head down. They are doing very well weight wise (would explain my rapidly increasing size!). Twin 1 weighs 2lb 6oz, Twin 2 weighs 2lb 8oz. I'm so pleased that they are so close together in weight, although slightly scared that because they are identicals, I'm not going to be able to tell them apart when they first arrive! The consultant is still recommending a Csection, mainly because they share a placenta but I also think because of my age! (I could tell she didn't want to spell it out but that is a concern for them!). So we've been provisionally booked in for 29th July. I have a hunch that things will happen naturally before then but there we go!
Sexy Green Compression tights!
So how am I doing? Well, I'm getting slower! I'm probably about the same size as someone who is pregnant at 40 weeks expecting a singleton! Everything is alot harder work. I struggle to put on shoes, pick things up from the floor, go upstairs. All of these tasks take time and I'm out of breath afterwards! Its like I'm the unfittest I've ever been! I mentioned my swollen left ankle and foot to the consultant who says its most likely due to the fact that my uterus may be lower on the left side. Anyway, I now have these completely unsexy dark green compression tights to wear - from toes to knee. Not ideal as we are going into summer but there you go! I wore them for the first time last night and I had the most excruciating cramp just below my knee. I was screaming to my husband, take them off! It was really awful. I think I just need to up the amount of Epsom Salts baths I take - magnesium is good for cramps.
I'm also beginning to get more tired. I'm generally tucked on the sofa by 6pm and don't really move til bedtime ... very often fast asleep just after supper. Not great company! Also my hormonal headaches are back :( I had a nasty one this morning and I know I was plenty hydrated enough. I tried coffee but this time it didn't work for me like it normally does.
Nesting
We are really beginning to get somewhere with clearing our excess clutter! My husband and I are both hoarders so there was a lot of stuff to clear but we are slowly getting there. The twins room was the 'Room where everything lives' but slowly and after numerous trips to the local Hospice and ebay and moving stuff around, it looks like we may be able to fit a cotbed in there!
Final shopping
We are picking up the Cotbeds, car seats and final baby paraphanalia next week! Its all becoming a bit more real - and I'm hovering between excited and terrified!
Our next scan isn't until 32 weeks. No doubt I'll be the size of a small building by then! :)
Have your say. Please be nice and stay on topic
