The Cypress tree is a wonderfully aromatic tree that originates in Mediterranean regions. The ancient Greeks dedicated the tree to Pluto the God of the Underworld, hence the use of trees in cemeteries. Cypress is well known for its use with Haemorrhoids, Varicose Veins, and any swelling/oedema. It is renowned as an excellent venous decongestant.
"Cypress is the only essential oil which is a true venous blood decongestant as well as an astringent" (HOLMES) it has a restorative effect on the veins themselves. It is also known as a menstrual regulator and can be used to ease painful periods.
